Full Text of the Ketubah:
In the presence of witnesses on the date inscribed, we entered into a covenant of marriage and declared a household among God’s people. This agreement is a holy covenant, like the scriptural covenants of our people, made in faithfulness and peace to stand forever. It is a promise of mutual love, honor, protection, provision, and hope.
This covenant is a statement of mutual belonging, as it is written,
“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.”
(Song of Solomon 6:3)
It is a covenant of exclusivity and distinction, like the covenant God made with Israel, as it is written,
“You shall be My people, and I shall be your God.”
(Jeremiah 30:22)
It is a covenant of practiced righteousness and goodness, like the marriage covenant between God and His people, as it is written,
“I will espouse you forever. I will espouse you with righteousness and justice and lovingkindness and compassion. I will espouse you in faithfulness, and you shall know God.”
(Hosea 2:21-22)
Within this covenant of marriage, we vow to love, honor, cherish, and support one another. Together, we commit our lives and home to the virtues of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. May our hearts be as one in days of joy and in days of sorrow. We hereby pledge our fidelity to one another and to our shared covenant. All this is valid and binding.
